Boy or girl ……

by on Sep.21, 2009, under My thoughts...

I am sure most of you are aware of the leading stories at the moment concerning the two young boys who during the school holidays have changed their GENDERS to that of a girl…..returning to school under a girls name and dressing as a girl….at the age of 9 and 12.

SO WHAT!!!!!!!

Reading between the crap that is the national newspapers it seems that it is the other parents at the schools have taken the most offence from this….sprouting off that “they should have been prepared”……you know what…..just do your job as decent parents, sit down with your own children and open their minds gently to what is going on around them…….and thank your lucky stars that your child has been born & is happy in the “right body/sex for the right gender”. As for the schools involved,  at least they have taken on board this rather unusual circumstance…..and dealt with it….fair play to them….

and as for our daily newspapers…..don’t forget there are two kids in all this, these two kids are not “playing” at dressing up….for them it is real, they are trapped in a body that does not feel right. the tabloids using the term “sex change” is both sensationalist and incorrect. The children in question are merely returning to school in their mental gender. They are children – NOT CIRCUS FREAKS!!!  If the children’s parents have made this decision and the child is content & happy – where is the harm?

Our national Newspapers continuously using the term “boy” and the pronoun “he” is simply ignorant. Whilst she may be biologically male, her gender identity for her may well be female. respect those girls feelings and decision!!!!!!

Gender is how someone feels they are. Sex is what you are. The two don’t always match…….

think about it………….

Caught out !!!!!!

by on Sep.21, 2009, under The Cats!

OK before I start can I just say…..it was the warmth that lead me up onto the roof, then I thought I’d check the state of the slate while I was up there!!!….Oh….and then I accidentally lay just where the birds were nesting!!!

As you are probably aware…..I am the brains behind TheBruvs……my brother Mr Ceylon is the muscle!!

On Saturday morning…..quite early(!!)  my mum peep answered the phone…..it was the lady from across the road informing her that I was on the roof……that reminds me I must go and dump the contents of my bowels upon her very neat lawn….and torment her very big German Shepard dog for grassin on me!!!!!!!! anyway…..out comes my mum…with camera.

Now everyone thought I was up there after the birds……but I get enough birds on Twitter…..hey I only have to click my fingers and Medusaj does a very good dance for us…..and not to mention our sexy gal across the seas….. grrlysquirrel and  then if we are really desperate we can always go for the golden oldies Stephanosis & Cathysmum….(only jokin ladies –  LURV ya really)

well who would have thought a cat on a slate roof would cause such a commotion???  I appreciate we live in a small village…..and some of the peeps here find it “news”  but hey I’m just a cat……. my mum called me down, saying that if I didn’t come down and stop drawing attention then she would call Mark…..now I have heard of “Mark” his real name is “Vet” I aint stupid……I was off that chimney and roof before you could say “castration”

My House...My Chimney!!!

My House...My Chimney!!!

Can you see me???

Can you see me???

Damn!! better get down then...

Damn!! better get down then...

Hey!! my roof...

Hey!! my roof...

Busted!! errrrr.... hi ya mum!

Busted!! errrrr.... hi ya mum!

For those of you concerned….no birds were hurt during the “roof incident”…..just my pride, however I will have my revenge on the informative across the road….. My brother and I had a vindaloo last night….washed down with several barrels of lager….and topped off with a couple of dodgy kebabs!!!!…….. I feel a “dump & run” coming on!!!!!!…….    ;o)
Have fun……be safe…..be happy……

Birthday Boys !!!

by on Sep.21, 2009, under The Family

So my boys were 2 and 3 this week, Kal celebrated his 2nd Birthday on Tuesday (15th) andShae reached the grand ole age of 3 on Friday (18th).

It does not seem five minutes ago since they both entered the world….and now here we are unwrapping play cookers and tractors!!!!!

Shae - 9 hours old.

Shae - 9 hours old.

Kal 3 hours old just arrived home

Kal 3 hours old just arrived home

When we shopped for the boy’s birthday, we decided that kal’s love of food had to play a part. We  chose a play cooker which had absolutely brilliant sound effects, the hobs actually looked “hot” when switched on….andthe “sizzling” from the grill just made your mouthwater!!!!!! Along with that we discovered a set of stainless steel pans (knowing that plastic pans would not impress Kal!!!) and the food was all velcro so that  Kal could practise the art of cutting/chopping!.  For Shae it had to be “wheels” so he had his first garage….complete with sound effects!!   ;-(

Kal was completely enthralled with all his presents (even the few clothes he had brought him!!) he loved the fact that under that beautiful wrapping paper there was something very special…..it was great to hear him “wow” and “arrrrrr” over his presents….then get excited over what was inside…… I am convinced a few of relatives and friends would have just scooped him up and taken him home given the chance…each being made to feel that the present they had bestowed upon Kal was “simply the best” he had ever had!!!!!!! Kal finished his birthday off with a gathering of family, friends and a few waifs & strays….. quarter pounders, sausages & fresh fruit salad was kal’s choice of Birthday grub….washed down with Shandy Bass!!!.  As we all raised a glass to Kal, he sat very quietly watching….then realising the “toast” was for him raised his cup, grinned and announced……”Cheers Kal!!!!!”

Kal enjoying the presents!!!

Kal enjoying the presents!!!

ready...steady....BLOW!!!!

ready...steady....BLOW!!!!

Mummy & Kal cutting the cake!!

Mummy & Kal cutting the cake!!

Then on friday we did it all again!!!!……Shae being Shae, found opening presents at first to much of a chore……..so Kal opened his presents then handed them over!!!!!!!!!  Shae was actually more impressed by the £10 he had received in one of his cards…..to which he exclaimed “I have a letter….it’s important!!!!”  Shae had insisted leading up to his birthday that he had wanted a “chess” none of us actually play chess….we had questioned the nursery where Shae attends….they had not mentioned chess…..so we were unsure where his obsession with wanting a chess set had come from…..not to let him down we got him a chess set…..he was made up…..his first game wi Athena went well….although the second game with Alethea did not…….he accused her of “cheating”……. We may have to clue ourselves up on the game… !!!

….and Shae’s Birthday tea….. he chose “hot dogs” & chocolate cake…..and chocolate…..chocolate!!!!!….all washed down with “bubbles” of Lemonade.

Shae actually opening one of his presents!!

Shae actually opening one of his presents!!

emmmm...and only three!!!

emmmm...and only three!!!

Quick Shae...before Kal blows them out!!

Quick Shae...before Kal blows them out!!

So that’s it for another year…… we had a lovely two days….both boys enjoyed their Birthdays….and their presents….(which I still have to find room for!!!!!…..) even managed to get a picture of all the kids…… very rare!!

All five of em!!!!

All five of em!!!!

Happy Birthday boys…… X  -  X

Mr Keith Chegwin

by on Sep.15, 2009, under The Cats!

OK so we are sitting on our laptop…..throwing abuse at our beautiful friend @stephanosis, many of you Twitter users will know Ms Stephy she has a tongue that could cut concrete, a mind as sharp as a Global knife, a quick sense of humour as good as any stand up comedian ….and a heart that is as warm & glorious like the summer sun……that you just want to bask under…. ;O)

anyway back to our story….there we were….throwing our usual abuse about, sharing the odd laugh or two…..when Ceylon noticed our followers had  increased…..intrigued we hit the followers button….would it be “get instant clean teeth” or “Britney with her huge sausage”……

NOPE…… only bloody Keith Chegwin!!!!! ….last week Wayne Rooney…..this week Cheggars plays POP!!!!!! Now we didn’t know a lot about this guy (hey we are only 10 months old!!!!) so we checked his website out http://www.keithchegwin.com and much respect was to be had for the lad…..hard working, great sense of humour and an honesty that is to be admired!!!!!

So we invited him up to our village…….. we decked out the local village hall with a few xmas lights…..make him feel a bit super-starry….. got a few of our friends round and boy did we party…… music blasting…… out of respect for our man we had a night of soft drinks…… Mr C arrived in his private Jump Jet Harrier….which impressed the ladies…… A top magazine turned up following a tip off from the local press……..Cheggars  and us had a great time the guy showed us some ace tips on pulling the birds, getting a six-pack (no – not from the local shop fridge!!!) this boy rocks!!!!!

unfortunately……

In our small village last weekend one of the local gals was having her hen-night….. now they grow up….small village…no one can cause any trouble cause everyone knows ya mam & dad!!! so when they reach an age where they can get married they really let rip…… the hen-nights are legendary……we often gate-crash them!!!!!!! So late into our party with Cheggars we decided in our wisdom to gatecrash the hen-night….

We must take this opportunity to apologise profusely to Mr Chegwin…… and the old lady who fell into the river, and the local Indian restaurant, and the sheep in the field adjoining the pub ( we appreciate what was done was wrong but high spirits and all that!!!!) also apologies to the local bobby…..we will come and re-spray your car!!!!

Mr Ceylon - Cheggars & The Hen Night!!

Mr Ceylon - Cheggars & The Hen Night!!

finally Thank you to Mr Cheggars ……..we will send the rest of your clothes when they have dried out….. have fun….lots of respect….and any time you are by our Village call in…..you can apologise to the vicar!!!!!!!!

laters peeps…… don’t let the bed bugs bite ya too hard….. or anyone else ya share ya bed with!!!!!!!    *SNOG*

Sleep well Botsi…x

by on Sep.12, 2009, under In Memory of...

Those of you who read my blog….and join us on Twitter will be aware that Ms Botsi lost her brave battle against Cancer on Friday.

Rainbow’s Bridge…..

Warm Light coming from far below,

Twinkling, sparkling is the candle’s Glow.

All is well up on the ridge,

The place we know as rainbow’s Bridge.

Furbabies sleeping in Heaven’s Light,

Tended by candles in the night

Peaceful dreams be theirs to keep,

As they slumber in this night so deep.

Hearts on earth that miss them so

Take comfort in the candle’s glow

watching for them in skies above,

Bound eternally by a cord of love.

On Thursday evening she was looking and behaving very cheeky…..jumping on the Kitchen table (not something normally allowed!!!) parading up and down really strutting her stuff!!!! wanting to kiss & headbutt everyone who came her way.

During the night she was sick several times…..and by 6.30 in the morning she was in a coma-state…..knowing she was coming towards the end of her 11 years we made her very comfortable and talked constantly to her.  She had insisted on staying in the bathroom during the night, resisting all efforts to place her somewhere else, It was decided that unless she showed signs of pain she would remain with us until the end. The children rose and were gently told that Botsi was going to go to sleep and then she would join Grandad and Candi across the Rainbow Bridge….each said their goodbyes….even little Kal at the tender age of two waved and said “nite nite BotBot”

The four children each had their bath…..with Botsi quietly lying listening to the everyday busy noises of our house. When the last of the kids had been dispatched downstairs ….I sat with Botsi her head cradled in my hand…. every few minutes she would let out a long sigh with a quiet purr…. Mr Darcy sat by my side.  Eventually her breathing became very shallow, her mouth opened slightly and her four paws very slowly moved as if she was running her last run through the long grass that she loved so much…. leaning over her I kissed her nose and told her to let go of this world, and to sleep, my tears wetting her fur she stopped breathing…. for a few seconds those paws twitched, Mr Darcy cried a beautiful song as she made her way over to that other world across to the Rainbow Bridge that would lead her to a safe, warm pain-free place where she could play happily in her long grass until she heard me whistling again……the day we are all reunited once more forever.

Nite Nite BotBot...X

Nite Nite BotBot...X

Our brave Botsi faced her illness and last hours with dignity & grace……. Sleep well our “BotBot”

Catnip !!!!

by on Sep.08, 2009, under The Cats!

Today my mummy peep came home with a box of “catnip” now I have never tried catnip in this form before……I have had “catnip toys” that just drive me loopy……So when she whistled us all in this morning three out of five of us came running…..

me checking out the instructions!!

In the usual pecking order….I was front of the queue…..I am after all the “favoured” cat!!! I was given this box…..after reading the instructions and having a good smell……I started to get a little excited…..and as when I get excited I started to let everyone know……loudly!!!! Unfortunately my crying alerted Ms Botsi……who still likes to think she is “top cat” (even though Mr Ceylon is much bigger & stronger) Now Ms Botsi has one thing that sets her apart from any other cat who lives here……she is ace at giving us young whippersnappers a quick “cuff” round the ear!!!……. When I wouldn’t let her see the box…..this is exactly what I got!!!!!

Three cats...one box!!!

Three cats...one box!!!

Ms Botsi & her "left-hook"

Having received the “left-hook” from Ms Botsi……Mr Ceylon and I quickly retreated…..with much respect….to a safe distance…..so that Ms Botsi could see what Mummy peep had got for us in that lovely red box….

She hugged it!!!

She hugged it!!!

She sang to it!!!

She sang to it!!!

She read the instructions!!!

She read the instructions!!!

and hugged it some more.....

and hugged it some more.....

Now Mr Ceylon and I were really wanting to know what exactly was in this treasured red box…..but would you take it off her??

Mummy peep came to the rescue….Ms Botsi handed over the treasured red box…..and I held my breath as she opened it….three little piles were put down on the floor…..Ms Botsi immediately started eating, licking, rolling, kicking her feet about like a kitten!!!! Mr Ceylon gulped all his and had to be given “seconds” ……I took my first sniff……….

…………WOW!!!!!  it was soooooooooo good I just didn’t know whether to eat it….lick it…..roll in it…..so I did all three!!!!!!!!! MAN…..It’s good stuff!!!!!!!!!

The end result……. Mr Ceylon….

Mr Ceylon....after two lots of catnip!!!

Menopause – the signs of…

by on Sep.08, 2009, under My thoughts...

It is estimated that over eight out of ten women in the UK experience symptoms leading up to the menopause, and of these, 45% will find their symptoms difficult to deal with….Menopause symptoms are as different and individual as women themselves. Some experience symptoms that their friends never do. The duration and severity of the symptoms is variable. Menopause is a natural part of life that all women go through, some with more difficulty than others.

Technically you are not in menopause until one year after your last period, however the signs and symptoms can start to appear up to eight years before then!!! until that time you are perimenopause.

The signs & symptoms.

  • Hot flashes, night sweats, coldness
  • Irregular periods that can be heavy, light, shorter or longer cycles
  • Difficulty sleeping either getting to sleep or staying asleep
  • Mood changes, anxiety, depression, irritability
  • Heart palpitations (if you experience any heart disturbances, always consult a physician)
  • Dry skin and/or hair loss
  • Loss of or decreased sexual desire
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Incontinence — the inability to hold your urine
  • signs of menopause

    signs of menopause

OK…… Enough serious stuff!!! Lets look at the facts….are you perimenopausal or confusing signs with just general life?????

Hot flashes, night sweats, coldness ….. Is your central heating on too high? Have you just run for the phone? too many layers on in bed? Something else making you work up a sweat in bed~???????

Irregular periods that can be heavy, light, shorter or longer cycles ….. Come on, how many of you ladies out there can honestly say you have had the same period…same time of the month….same amount of days in each cycle???

Difficulty sleeping either getting to sleep or staying asleep….. Too drunk? Stuffed from that last kebab? or is someone else making you stay awake in bed?????

Mood changes, anxiety, depression, irritability…. No change there then??????  ;O)

Heart palpitations….. for me, was always when Martin Shaw was running round on screen during his stint in The Professionals…. then a certain Teacher at high school……and now, when my two year old plays “lets pretend to jump off the table”

Dry skin and/or hair loss… Use a bloody moisturiser!!!! & stop putting cheap hair dye on your hair!!!!…..any hair loss anywhere else….embrace it!!!!

Loss of or decreased sexual desire… Change your partner!!!!!!!

Vaginal dryness… get yourself a tube of lube….or change your partner!!!!

Incontinence — the inability to hold your urine… I believe after the months spent on Twitter this is more commonly called PMSL (Piss-My-Self-Laughing) what can I say ladies….either don’t drink so much….empty your bladders more regularly…Do your pelvic floor exercises…..OR GET YOURSELF SOME “TENA” LADIES!!!!!!!

Today I went into a pet shop….as I always do I went straight towards the caged animals…..since I have been old enough to remember I have always stood completely mesmerized at any creature…..as I stood there today….I wanted to cry….?

In front of me were about a dozen or so birds all chirping…and hopping from one perch to the other….using the little space provided to stretch their wings…..my fingers twitched….my heart started to palpitate…I went very hot…(OK I cant comment on Vaginal dryness, or hair loss….and I did not require any “Tena Lady”) but the urge to open the cage door and release those birds was huge!!!!!!

As you can see…..just because you have the symptoms it does not mean you are approaching the menopause!!!!

In some cultures, menopause is celebrated. It is a joyous event. Just like adolescence is seen as a transition from being a child to becoming an adult, menopause is seen as a transition from the binding responsibilities childbearing and family care to the emergence of a completely evolved individual with a unique treasure of accumulated wisdom. Another way it’s been explained is that a pre-adolescent girl is a flower, a woman in her childbearing years is the fruit, and a post-menopausal woman is the seed…she contains the essence of all the preceding life-experiences which she can plant in upcoming generations.

    Another view:

And curiously enough, in many of these cultures, women experience far fewer and less severe symptoms of menopause. Asian women report far fewer hot flashes than western women do. In some cases in India, depression, dizziness, incontinence and other symptoms are almost unknown. Only 5% of Chinese women report menopausal symptoms. Mayan women in Mexico report no menopausal symptoms except irregular periods. In Africa, women in Botswana report no menopausal symptoms except increased sex drive. In Australia, 70% felt good natured and only 4% felt depressed. In the UK at least 80% of women suffer from symptoms of the menopause!!!!!!!!!!!

The above is depiction of the mind-body-spirit condition of women in two different cultural perspectives…one menopause-negative, one menopause-positive. The question is how to get from one to the other….

The answer is simple. Change your attitude-diet-life

I know which way I would like to approach my perimenopausal years…… how about you?

    Have fun Sharon..

    EarthMamaAngelBaby

by on Sep.07, 2009, under Always Special

If you are looking to purchase EarthMamaAngelBaby products we are now selling them separately on our website www.Alwayspecial.co.uk  thank you.

When I started playing around with the idea of towel cakes I realised that whatever the occasion….there could be a towel cake for it. While deciding what products to place into my Baby Towel cake I came across EarthMamaAngelBaby a beautiful website selling simply beautiful products for both Baby and Mum.

What actually grabbed my attention was the sister site Healing Hearts – Baby loss comfort. I have been very lucky that I have had four beautiful pregnancies and safely delivered four healthy babies. I feel very strongly for those ladies who have lost babies….and can not imagine how they feel.  I have never really considered before that after losing a baby….that the female body still goes through all the aspects of actually having that baby…..soreness, milk coming in….. very sad.

This site however was very open and sympathetic  in it’s approach to losing a baby….offering support and products for “mum” .  The following is a link to the site http://www.babylosscomfort.com

This lead me to Earth Mama Angel Baby products…..I read a bit about them and liked what I saw.. Earth Mama Angel Baby was founded by nurse, herbalist, and concerned mother Melinda Olson. Her mission is to treat the common symptoms of pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and baby care with pure, safe herbal remedies. Her knowledge of traditional herb medicine combines with evidence based research to help soothe and comfort mamas and babies naturally. All Earth Mama Angel Baby® products and teas are formulated without harsh chemicals, toxins or preservatives, and have the best safety ratings in the exceptional Skin Deep toxicity database. Proudly pure, Earth Mama Angel Baby® products are made only with worry-free ingredients: no 1,4-Dioxane, formaldehyde, phthalates, or toxins of any kind.

     http://www.earthmamaangelbaby.com

    Earth Mama Angel Baby

    Earth Mama Angel Baby

    The EarthMamaAngelBaby Promise is…..

What we guarantee to each and every earth mama and angel baby

Safe, pure and natural products that work.

Mama created the only complete line of 100% natural, herbal, toxin-free skin and body care products and teas to help ease the common discomforts of the entire process of birth — from pregnancy through labor, postpartum and c-section recovery, breastfeeding, and baby care, and even the loss of a baby.

Earth Mama Angel Baby products contain only the highest quality, certified-organic or organically grown herbs and oils in our gentle handmade soaps, salves, lotions, bath herbs, aromatherapy sprays, massage oils and herbal teas. Our products are 100% toxin-free, cruelty-free, vegan, and free from all artificial preservatives, fragrances and dyes. Safety has always been our main concern, which is why you’ll never find 1,4-Dioxane, formaldehyde, phthalates, or any other toxic ingredients in any of our products. Unlike many so-called natural and organic products on the shelves today, an Earth Mama Angel Baby product has to pass Mama’s rigorous tests for safety, purity and efficacy: many of our products have undergone voluntary independent clinical testing as well. And since we care for Mother Earth as much as any mama, we use only eco-friendly recyclable or reusable packaging and packing materials. As a mother, nurse and herbalist, Mama’s promise to each and every earth mama and angel baby is that only pure, safe and effective products will leave the shipping docks. We believe that your gift from heaven deserves only the purest gifts from the earth.

So I went ahead and ordered some samples….. and I have to say the smell is just fantastic summing it up with a quote from the EarthMamaAngelBaby site ” If you want to know what heaven smells like, it’s that sweet, nuzzly baby place that makes your whole soul inhale”

    Beautiful Products

    Beautiful Products

….All my babies have all been “Johnson Babies” So anything “new” I have always shied away from…. but this product is just fantastic….when your precious little bundle is born, after spending the past few months in ideal sterile conditions the last thing you want is too harm that soft vulnerable skin….I always believed that Johnsons was “the best!!” I will not bore you with the facts.  Most mums nowadays are aware of the harmful BPA, phthalates, parabens, harsh chemicals, neurotoxins, carcinogens and much more added to baby products……The two opposing products speak for themselves…..

    EarthMamaAngelBaby really speaks for itself….

    First day at school

by on Sep.01, 2009, under The Family

Three years ago today I was heavily pregnant with Shae…. 17 days later Shae made his entrance into the world. Today at 9 o’clock Tuesday September 1st Shae made his entrance into the “School world”

Shae dressed up for his first day...

Shae dressed up for his first day...

Our local school has just started a provision for two year old…. from 9 until 12.30 they have their own little classroom, dining room and have the chance to socialise with all the school children including the teachers. The very relaxed atmosphere…..involving lots of play in a very small group. it allows the two/three year olds a chance to taste school life before they start at the age of four, where they will be in a larger classroom/number,  it also prepares these little people gently for the next 14 or so years of academic life.  Parents are welcome to stay. I vividly remember my eldest child’s first day at school, she cried…..actually it was bordering scream, She had only really had 6 months of nursery experience….and any toddler group was always with me present. So for Shae the transition and his first official day at school this time next year (Wales start school at the age of four) will hopefully be easy for him……and me…. ;o)
So today (two days before the start of the school term) Shae started “Ladybirds”  Athena went along with him….the school seemed very quiet with only the couple of “new ladybirds”  but it was lovely for them to get used to their surroundings without the “noises” of a full school. Shae came away at the end of the session absolutely “bubbling” he skipped and hopped home full of what he had done….although as soon as he entered the door he started ripping his shirt and trousers off and announced he “wanted dressing”……jeans and tee-shirt.
I appreciate that after speaking to a few parents that sending your child to school at the age of two is somewhat daunting and in some cases opposed to and that there is various reports/studies done showing two sides…… but for Shae
His shiny bright face when we went to pick him up answered any doubts!!!! He thoroughly enjoyed his couple of hours playing with new things, and for me I know that Shae will gain confidence, knowledge, happiness and new friends……what more could a parent want?
